My Soul Thirsts for You
A Psalm of David.
Hear my prayer, O Lord;
agive ear to my pleas for mercy!
In your bfaithfulness answer me, in your brighteousness!
2 aEnter not into judgment with your servant,
for no one living is righteous bbefore you.
3 For the enemy has pursued my soul;
ahe has crushed my life to the ground;
bhe has made me sit in darkness like those long dead.
4 Therefore my spirit afaints within me;
my heart within me is appalled.
5 aI remember the days of old;
bI meditate on all that you have done;
I ponder the work of your hands.
6 aI stretch out my hands to you;
bmy soul thirsts for you like ca parched land. Selah
7 aAnswer me quickly, O Lord!
bMy spirit fails!
cHide not your face from me,
dlest I be like those who go down to the pit.
8 aLet me hear in the morning of your steadfast love,
for in you I btrust.
cMake me know the way I should go,
dfor to you I lift up my soul.
9 aDeliver me from my enemies, O Lord!
I have fled to you for refuge.
10 aTeach me to do your will,
for you are my God!
bLet your good Spirit clead me
on dlevel ground!
11 aFor your name’s sake, O Lord, bpreserve my life!
In your righteousness cbring my soul out of trouble!
12 And in your steadfast love you will acut off my enemies,
and you will destroy all the adversaries of my soul,
for I am your bservant.
