Psalm 80:8-16

8
You removed a avine from Egypt;
You bdrove out the 1nations and then You cplanted it.

9
You acleared the ground before it,
And it btook deep root and filled the land.

10
The mountains were covered with its shadow,
And 1the cedars of God with its aboughs.

11
It sent out its branches ato the sea
And its shoots to the River.

12
Why have You abroken down its 1hedges,
So that all who pass that way pick its fruit?

13
A boar from the forest adevours it
And whatever moves in the field feeds on it.

14
O God of hosts, areturn now, we beseech You;
bLook down from heaven and see, and visit this vine,

15
Even the 1asapling which Your right hand has planted,
And on the 2son whom You have 3strengthened for Yourself.

16
It is aburned with fire, it is cut down;
They perish at the brebuke of Your face.

Isaiah 5:1-7

The Song of the Vineyard

Let me sing now for my well‑beloved
A song of my beloved concerning His vineyard.
My well‑beloved had a avineyard on 1a fertile hill.

2
He dug it all around, removed its stones,
And planted it with 1the achoicest vine.
And He built a tower in the middle of it
And also hewed out a 2wine vat in it;
Then He bhoped for it to produce good grapes,
But it produced only 3worthless ones.

3
“So now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah,
aPlease judge between Me and My vineyard.

4
aWhat more was there to do for My vineyard 1that I have not done in it?
Why, when I hoped for it to produce good grapes did it produce 2worthless ones?

5
So now let Me tell you what I am going to do to My vineyard:
I will aremove its hedge, and it will be consumed;
I will bbreak down its wall, and it will become ctrampled ground.

6
I will alay it waste;
It will not be pruned or hoed,
But briars and thorns will come up.
I will also command the clouds to brain no rain on it.”

7
For the avineyard of Yahweh of hosts is the house of Israel
And the men of Judah His delightful plant.
Thus He hoped for justice, but behold, bbloodshed;
For righteousness, but behold, a cry of distress.

Jeremiah 2:21

21
Yet I aplanted you a choice vine,
A completely true seed.
How then have you turned yourself before Me
Into the bdegenerate shoots of a foreign vine?

Luke 20:9-16

Parable of the Vine‑Growers

9 aAnd He began to tell the people this parable: “A man planted a vineyard and rented it out to 1vine-growers, and went on a journey for a long time.
10 And at the harvest time he sent a slave to the vine-growers, so that they would give him some of the fruit of the vineyard. But the vine-growers sent him away empty-handed having beaten him. 11 And he proceeded to send another slave; and when they beat him also and treated him shamefully, they sent him away empty-handed. 12 And he proceeded to send a third; and this one also they wounded and cast out. 13 Now the 1owner of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; perhaps they will arespect him.’ 14 But when the vine-growers saw him, they were reasoning with one another, saying, ‘This is the heir; let us kill him so that the inheritance will be ours.’ 15 So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. What, then, will the 1owner of the vineyard do to them? 16 He will come and adestroy these vine-growers and will give the vineyard to others.” When they heard this, they said, “bMay it never be!”

John 15:1-8

I Am the True Vine

“aI am the true vine, and My Father is the bvine-grower.
2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He 1cleans it so that it may bear more fruit. 3 aYou are already 1clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 aAbide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit from itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. 5 I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he abears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is athrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned. 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, aask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 My aFather is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so 1bprove to be My disciples.
