Psalm 56:1

For the choir director. According to ¹Jonath Elem Rehokim. A ²Mikhtam of David. ³When the Philistines seized him in Gath.

Be gracious to me, O God, for man has ⁴^atrampled upon me;

All day long, an attacker ^boppresses me.

Psalm 56:2

My foes have ¹^atrampled upon me all day long,

For many ^battack me proudly.

All day long they ¹^adistort my words;

All their ²^bthoughts are against me for evil.

They ¹^aattack, they lurk,

They ^bwatch my heels,

As they have ^choped to take my ²life.

On account of their wickedness, ^awill they have an escape?

In anger, ^bbring down the peoples, O God!
