Leviticus 27:1-34

Holy to Yahweh

Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
2 “Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘aWhen a man makes a difficult vow, he shall be valued according to your valuation of persons belonging to Yahweh. 3 If your valuation is of the male from twenty years even to sixty years old, then your valuation shall be 1fifty shekels of silver, according to athe shekel of the sanctuary. 4 Or if it is a female, then your valuation shall be thirty shekels. 5 If it be from five years even to twenty years old then your valuation for the male shall be twenty shekels and for the female ten shekels. 6 But if they are from a month even up to five years old, then your valuation shall be afive shekels of silver for the male, and for the female your valuation shall be three shekels of silver. 7 If they are from sixty years old and upward, if it is a male, then your valuation shall be fifteen shekels, and for the female ten shekels. 8 But if he is poorer than your valuation, then he shall be 1presented before the priest, and the priest shall value him; aaccording to 2the means of the one who vowed, the priest shall value him.
9 ‘Now if it is an animal of the kind which 1men can bring near as an offering to Yahweh, any such that one gives to Yahweh shall be holy.
10 aHe shall not replace it or exchange it, a good for a bad, or a bad for a good; or if he does exchange animal for animal, then both it and its substitute shall become holy. 11 If, however, it is any unclean animal of the kind which 1men do not bring near as an offering to Yahweh, then he shall 2present the animal before the priest. 12 And the priest shall value it 1as either good or bad; as you, the priest, value it, so it shall be. 13 But if he should ever wish to redeem it, then he shall add one-fifth of it to your valuation.
14 ‘Now if a man sets his house apart as holy to Yahweh, then the priest shall value it 1as either good or bad; as the priest values it, so it shall stand.
15 Yet if the one who sets it apart as holy should wish to redeem his house, then he shall add one-fifth of your valuation price to it, so that it may be his.
16 ‘Again, if a man sets apart as holy to Yahweh a portion of the fields of his own possession, then your valuation shall be 1proportionate to the seed needed for it: a 2homer of barley seed at 3fifty shekels of silver.
17 If he sets apart his field as holy from the year of jubilee, according to your valuation it shall stand. 18 If he sets apart his field as holy after the jubilee, however, then the priest shall calculate the price for 1him 2proportionate to the years that are left until the year of jubilee; and it shall be deducted from your valuation. 19 If the one who sets it apart as holy should ever wish to redeem the field, then he shall add one-fifth of your valuation price to it so that it may stand as his own. 20 Yet if he will not redeem the field, 1but has sold the field to another man, it may no longer be redeemed; 21 and it will be that when it 1reverts in the jubilee, the field shall be holy to Yahweh, like a field that is 2devoted; ait shall be for the priest as his possession. 22 Or if he sets apart as holy to Yahweh a field which he has bought, which is not a portion of the field of his own possession, 23 then the priest shall calculate for 1him the amount of your valuation up to the year of jubilee; and he shall on that day give your valuation as holy to Yahweh. 24 In the year of jubilee the field shall return to the one from whom he bought it, to whom the possession of the land belongs. 25 Every valuation of yours, moreover, shall be according to athe shekel of the sanctuary. The shekel shall be twenty 1gerahs.
26 ‘aHowever, a firstborn among animals, which as a firstborn belongs to Yahweh, no man may set it apart as holy; whether ox or sheep, it is Yahweh’s.
27 But if it is among the unclean animals, then he shall 1ransom it according to your valuation and add to it one-fifth of it; and if it is not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to your valuation.
28 ‘Nevertheless, aanything which a man 1devotes to Yahweh out of all that he has, of man or animal or of the fields of his own possession, shall not be sold or redeemed. Anything 2devoted to destruction is most holy to Yahweh.
29 No 1one who may have been 2devoted among men shall be 3ransomed; he shall surely be put to death.
30 ‘Thus aall the tithe of the land, of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, belongs to Yahweh; it is holy to Yahweh.
31 If, therefore, a man wishes to redeem part of his tithe, he shall add to it one-fifth of it. 32 For every tenth part of herd or flock, whatever apasses under the rod, the tenth one shall be holy to Yahweh. 33 aHe shall not inquire whether it is good or bad, nor shall he exchange it; or if he does exchange it, then both it and its substitute shall become holy. It shall not be redeemed.’”
34 aThese are the commandments which Yahweh commanded Moses for the sons of Israel at Mount Sinai.

Deuteronomy 13:1-18

Stone Those Who Prophesy Against Yahweh

“1aIf a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder,
2 and the sign or the wonder comes true, concerning which he spoke to you, saying, ‘aLet us walk after other gods (whom you have not known) and let us serve them,’ 3 you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams; for Yahweh your God is atesting you to find out if byou love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your soul. 4 aYou shall walk after Yahweh your God and fear Him; and you shall keep His commandments, listen to His voice, serve Him, and bcling to Him. 5 But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be aput to death because he has 1counseled 2rebellion against Yahweh your God who brought you from the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of 3slavery, bto drive you from the way in which Yahweh your God commanded you to walk. cSo you shall purge the evil from among you.
6 “aIf your brother, your mother’s son, or your son or daughter, or the wife 1you cherish, or your friend who is as your own soul, entices you secretly, saying, ‘bLet us go and serve other gods’ (whom neither you nor your fathers have known,
7 of the gods of the peoples who are around you, near you or far from you, from one end of the earth to the other end), 8 ayou shall not be willing to accept him or listen to him; band your eye shall not pity him; and you shall not spare him or conceal him. 9 aBut you shall surely kill him; byour hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. 10 So you shall stone him 1to death because he has sought ato drive you from Yahweh your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt, out of the house of 2slavery. 11 Thus aall Israel will hear and be afraid and will never again do such an evil thing among you.
12 “If you hear in one of your cities, which Yahweh your God is giving you to live in, anyone saying that
13 some vile men have gone out from among you and have driven the inhabitants of their city astray, saying, ‘aLet us go and serve other gods’ (whom you have not known), 14 then you shall inquire and search out and ask thoroughly. Behold, if it is true and the matter is confirmed, that this abomination has been done among you, 15 ayou shall surely strike the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, 1devoting it to destruction and all that is in it and its cattle with the edge of the sword. 16 aThen you shall gather all its spoil into the middle of its open square and burn the city and all its spoil with fire as a whole burnt offering to Yahweh your God; and it shall be a 1bruin forever. It shall never be rebuilt. 17 Now nothing from that which is devoted to destruction shall cling to your hand, in order that Yahweh may turn from aHis burning anger and bgrant compassion to you and show compassion to you and cmake you multiply, just das He has sworn to your fathers, 18 1if you will listen to the voice of Yahweh your God, 2keeping all His commandments which I am commanding you today, 3and doing what is right in the sight of Yahweh your God.
