Jeremiah 8:14

Why are we sitting still?

^aGather yourselves, and let us ^bgo into the fortified cities

And let us be silent there

Because Yahweh our God has silenced us

And given us ¹^cpoisoned water to drink,

For ^dwe have sinned against Yahweh.

Jeremiah 23:15

15 Therefore thus says Yahweh of hosts concerning the prophets,

‘Behold, I am going to ^afeed them wormwood

And make them drink ¹poisoned water,

For from the prophets of Jerusalem

Pollution has gone forth into all the land.’”

You have fed them with the ^abread of tears,

And You have made them to drink tears in ¹large measure.
