1 Samuel 15:22

22 And Samuel said,

“^aHas Yahweh as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices

As in obeying the voice of Yahweh?

Behold, ^bto obey is better than sacrifice,

And to heed than the fat of rams.

Psalm 50:9-13

I shall take no ^ayoung bull out of your house

Nor male goats out of your folds.

For ^aevery beast of the forest is Mine,

The cattle on a thousand hills.

I know every ^abird of the mountains,

And everything that moves in the field is ¹Mine.

If I were hungry I would not tell you,

For the ^aworld is Mine, as well as its fullness.

Shall I eat the flesh of ¹^abulls

Or drink the blood of male goats?

For You ^ado not delight in sacrifice, otherwise I would give it;

You are not pleased with burnt offering.

The sacrifices of God are a ^abroken spirit;

A broken and a ¹contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.

^aBy Your favor do good to Zion;

¹^bBuild the walls of Jerusalem.

Then You will delight in ¹^arighteous sacrifices,

In ^bburnt offering and whole burnt offering;

Then ²young bulls will be offered on Your altar.

For ^aI delight in lovingkindness ^brather than sacrifice,

And in the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.
