Ephesians 1


Greeting

Paul, aan apostle of Christ Jesus bby the will of God,
To the saints who are in Ephesus, and care faithful1 in Christ Jesus:

2 aGrace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Spiritual Blessings in Christ

3 aBlessed be bthe God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing cin the heavenly places,
4 aeven as he bchose us in him cbefore the foundation of the world, that we should be dholy and blameless before him. In love 5 ahe predestined us1 for badoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, caccording to the purpose of his will, 6 ato the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in bthe Beloved. 7 aIn him we have bredemption cthrough his blood, dthe forgiveness of our trespasses, eaccording to the riches of his grace, 8 which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight 9 amaking known1 to us the mystery of his will, baccording to his purpose, which he cset forth in Christ2 10 as a plan for athe fullness of time, bto unite all things in Christ, things in heaven and things on earth in him.
11 In him we have obtained aan inheritance, bhaving been predestined caccording to the purpose of him who works all things according to dthe counsel of his will,
12 so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be ato the praise of his glory. 13 In him you also, when you heard athe word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, bwere sealed with the cpromised Holy Spirit, 14 who is athe guarantee1 of our binheritance until cwe acquire dpossession of it,2 eto the praise of his glory.

Thanksgiving and Prayer

15 For this reason, abecause I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love1 toward all the saints,
16 I ado not cease to give thanks for you, bremembering you in my prayers, 17 that athe God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, bmay give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, 18 ahaving the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is bthe hope to which he has called you, what are cthe riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, aaccording to the working of bhis great might 20 that he worked in Christ awhen he raised him from the dead and bseated him at his right hand cin the heavenly places, 21 afar above ball rule and authority and power and dominion, and above cevery name that is named, not only in dthis age but also in the one to come. 22 And ahe put all things under his feet and gave him as bhead over all things to the church, 23 awhich is his body, bthe fullness of him cwho fills dall in all.
