Matthew 26:57-75

Jesus Before Caiaphas

57 aNow those who had seized Jesus led Him away to bCaiaphas, the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together.
58 But aPeter was following Him at a distance as far as the bcourtyard of the high priest, and entered in, and sat down with the 1cofficers to see the outcome.
59 Now the chief priests and the whole aSanhedrin kept trying to obtain false testimony against Jesus, so that they might put Him to death.
60 And they did not find any, even though many false witnesses came forward. But later on atwo came forward, 61 and said, “This man stated, ‘aI am able to destroy the 1sanctuary of God and to rebuild it 2in three days.’” 62 And the high priest stood up and said to Him, “Do You not answer? What are these men testifying against You?” 63 But aJesus kept silent. bAnd the high priest said to Him, “cI put You under oath by dthe living God, that You tell us whether You are the 1Christ, ethe Son of God.” 64 Jesus *said to him, “aYou yourself said it; nevertheless I tell you, 1hereafter you will see bthe Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power and ccoming on the clouds of heaven.”
65 Then the high priest atore his garments and said, “He has blasphemed! What further need do we have of witnesses? Behold, you have now heard the blasphemy;
66 what do you think?” They answered and said, “aHe deserves death!”
67 aThen they bspat in His face and beat Him with their fists; and others 1slapped Him,
68 and said, “aProphesy to us, O 1Christ; who is the one who hit You?”

Peter’s Denials

69 aNow Peter was sitting outside in the bcourtyard, and a servant-girl came to him and said, “You too were with Jesus the Galilean.”
70 But he denied it before them all, saying, “I do not know what you are talking about.” 71 And when he had gone out to the gateway, another servant-girl saw him and *said to those who were there, “This man was with Jesus of Nazareth.” 72 And again he denied it with an oath, “I do not know the man.” 73 A little later the bystanders came up and said to Peter, “Surely you too are one of them; afor even the way you talk 1gives you away.” 74 Then he began to curse and swear, “I do not know the man!” And immediately a rooster crowed. 75 And Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said, “aBefore a rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” And he went out and cried bitterly.

Luke 22:54-71

54 aNow having arrested Him, they led Him away and brought Him to the house of the high priest, but bPeter was following at a distance.
55 aAnd after they had kindled a fire in the middle of bthe courtyard and had sat down together, Peter was sitting among them. 56 And a servant-girl, seeing him as he sat in the firelight and looking intently at him, said, “This man was with Him too.” 57 But he denied it, saying, “Woman, I do not know Him.” 58 A little later, aanother saw him and said, “You are one of them too!” But Peter said, “Man, I am not!” 59 And after about an hour had passed, another man began to insist, saying, “Certainly this man was with Him too, afor he also is a Galilean.” 60 But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about.” Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed. 61 aAnd the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had told him, “bBefore a rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times.” 62 And he went out and cried bitterly.
63 aNow the men who were holding 1Jesus in custody were mocking Him while they beat Him,
64 and they blindfolded Him and were asking Him, saying, “aProphesy, who is the one who hit You?” 65 And they were saying many other things against Him, ablaspheming.

Jesus Before the Sanhedrin

66 aAnd as the day came, bthe Council of elders of the people assembled, both chief priests and scribes, and they led Him away to their cSanhedrin, saying,
67 “aIf You are the 1Christ, tell us.” But He said to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe, 68 and if I ask a question, you will not answer. 69 aBut from now on bthe Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of 1God.” 70 And they all said, “Are You athe Son of God, then?” And He said to them, “bYou yourselves say that I am.” 71 Then they said, “What further need do we have of testimony? For we have heard it ourselves from His own mouth.”

John 18:13-18

13 and led Him to aAnnas first; for he was father-in-law of bCaiaphas, who was high priest that year. 14 Now Caiaphas was the one who had advised the Jews that ait was better for one man to die on behalf of the people.
15 aAnd Simon Peter was following Jesus, and so was another disciple. Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and entered with Jesus into bthe court of the high priest,
16 abut Peter was standing at the door outside. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the doorkeeper, and brought Peter in. 17 aThen the servant-girl who kept the door *said to Peter, “bAre you not also one of this man’s disciples?” He *said, “I am not.” 18 Now the slaves and the aofficers were standing there, having made ba charcoal fire, for it was cold and they were cwarming themselves; and Peter was also with them, standing and warming himself.

John 18:24-27

24 aSo Annas sent Him bound to aCaiaphas the high priest.
25 aNow bSimon Peter was standing and warming himself. So they said to him, “cYou are not also one of His disciples, are you?” He denied it, and said, “I am not.”
26 One of the slaves of the high priest, being a relative of the one awhose ear Peter cut off, *said, “Did I not see you in bthe garden with Him?” 27 Peter then denied it again, and immediately aa rooster crowed.
