31 Then Jesus *said to them, “You will all ¹^afall away because of Me this night, for it is written, ‘^bI will strike down the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be ^cscattered.’ 32 But after I have been raised, ^aI will go ahead of you to Galilee.” 33 But Peter answered and said to Him, “Even though all may ¹fall away because of You, I will never fall away.” 34 Jesus said to him, “^aTruly I say to you that ^bthis very night, before a rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” 35 Peter *said to Him, “^aEven if I have to die with You, I will not deny You.” All the disciples said the same thing too.

31 “Simon, Simon, behold, ^aSatan has ¹demanded to ^bsift all of you like wheat. 32 But I ^ahave prayed earnestly for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, once you have returned, ^bstrengthen your brothers.” 33 ^aBut he said to Him, “Lord, with You I am ready to go both to prison and to death!” 34 And He said, “I say to you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know Me.”
35 And He said to them, “^aWhen I sent you out without money belt and bag and sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Not a thing.” 36 And He said to them, “But now, ¹whoever has a money belt is to take it along, likewise also a bag, and ¹whoever has no sword should sell his garment and buy one. 37 For I tell you that this which is written must be ¹completed in Me, ‘^aAnd He was numbered with transgressors’; for ^bthat which refers to Me has its ²completion.” 38 And they said, “Lord, look, here are two ^aswords.” And He said to them, “It is enough.”
