Matthew 16:28-17:13

28 “Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the aSon of Man bcoming in His kingdom.”

The Transfiguration

And asix days later Jesus *brought with Him bPeter and James and John his brother, and *led them up on a high mountain by themselves.
2 And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light. 3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. 4 And Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, aI will make three 1booths here, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 5 While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, aa voice out of the cloud said, “bThis is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!” 6 And when the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were terrified. 7 And Jesus came to them and touched them and said, “Get up, and ado not be afraid.” 8 And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one except Jesus Himself alone.
9 aAnd as they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, “bTell the vision to no one until cthe Son of Man has drisen from the dead.”
10 And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Why then do the scribes say that aElijah must come first?” 11 And He answered and said, “Elijah is coming and will restore all things; 12 but I say to you that Elijah already came, and they did not recognize him, but did 1to him whatever they wished. So also athe Son of Man is going to suffer 2at their hands.” 13 Then the disciples understood that He had spoken to them about John the Baptist.

Luke 9:27-36

27 But I say to you truthfully, athere are some of those standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God.”

The Transfiguration

28 aNow it happened some eight days after these words, that taking along bPeter and John and James, He cwent up on the mountain dto pray.
29 And it happened that while He was apraying, the appearance of His face bbecame different, and His clothing became white and 1gleaming. 30 And behold, two men were talking with Him, and they were Moses and Elijah, 31 who, appearing in 1glory, were speaking of His 2adeparture which He was about to fulfill at Jerusalem. 32 Now Peter and his companions ahad been overcome with sleep, but when they were fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men standing with Him. 33 And it happened that as they were leaving Him, Peter said to Jesus, “aMaster, it is good for us to be here; blet us make three 1booths: one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah”—cnot realizing what he was saying. 34 While he was saying this, a cloud 1formed and began to overshadow them; and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. 35 Then aa voice came out of the cloud, saying, “bThis is My Son, My Chosen One; listen to Him!” 36 And when the voice 1had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And athey kept silent, and reported to no one in those days any of the things which they had seen.
