Malachi 3:13-4:6

Arrogant Words

13 “Your words have been strong against Me,” says Yahweh. “But you say, ‘What have we spoken against You?’ 14 You have said, ‘It is ^aworthless to serve God; and what ^bgain is it that we have kept His charge and that we have walked in mourning before Yahweh of hosts? 15 So now we ^acall the arrogant blessed; not only are the doers of wickedness built up, but they also test God and ^bescape.’”

The Book of Remembrance

16 Then those who ¹feared Yahweh spoke to one another, and Yahweh ^agave heed and heard it, and a ^bbook of remembrance was written before Him for those who ¹fear Yahweh and who think upon His name. 17 “And they will be ^aMine,” says Yahweh of hosts, “on the ^bday that I ¹prepare My ²^cown treasured possession, and I will ³spare them as a man ⁴^dspares his own son who serves him.” 18 So you will return and ^asee the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve Him.

The Great Day of Yahweh

“¹For behold, the day is coming, ^aburning like a furnace; and all the arrogant and every worker of wickedness will be ^bchaff; and the day that is coming will ^cset them aflame,” says Yahweh of hosts, “so that it will leave them neither root nor branch.” 2 “But for you who ¹fear My name, the ^asun of righteousness will rise with ^bhealing in its wings; and you will go forth and ^cskip about like calves from the stall. 3 And you will ^atread down the wicked, for they will be ^bashes under the soles of your feet ^con the day ¹which I am preparing,” says Yahweh of hosts.
4 “¹^aRemember the law of Moses My servant, even the statutes and judgments which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel.
5 “Behold, I am going to send you ^aElijah the prophet before the coming of the great and awesome day of Yahweh. 6 And he will ^aturn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and ^bstrike the land, ¹devoting it to destruction.”
