Isaiah 1:24-27

« Song 8Isaiah 1Isaiah 2 »

Therefore the Lord, Yahweh of hosts,

The ^aMighty One of Israel, declares,

“Ah, I will be comforted concerning My adversaries,

And I will ^bavenge Myself on My enemies.

I will also turn My hand against you,

And will ^asmelt away your dross as with lye

And will remove all your alloy.

Then I will have your ^ajudges return as at the first,

And your counselors as at the beginning;

Afterwards you will be called the ^bcity of righteousness,

A faithful town.”

Zion will be ^aredeemed with justice

And her ¹repentant ones with righteousness.

The Death of Herod

20 Now he was very angry with the people of ^aTyre and Sidon; and with one accord they came to him, and having won over Blastus the king’s chamberlain, they were asking for peace, because ^btheir country was fed by the king’s country. 21 And on an appointed day Herod, having put on his royal apparel and sitting on the judgment seat, began delivering an address to them. 22 And the assembly kept crying out, “The voice of a god and not of a man!” 23 And immediately ^aan angel of the ¹Lord struck him because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and breathed his last.
