Isaiah 28:4

And the fading flower of its glorious beauty,

Which is at the head of the ¹fertile valley,

Will be like the ^afirst‑ripe fig prior to summer,

Which ²one sees,

And ³as soon as it is in his ⁴hand,

He swallows it.

Jeremiah 24:2

2 One basket had very good figs, like ^afirst-ripe figs, and the other basket had ^bvery rotten figs which could not be eaten due to rottenness.

Woe is me! For I am

Like the fruit pickers, like the ^agrape gatherers.

There is not a cluster of grapes to eat,

Or a ^bfirst‑ripe fig which my soul desires.
