2 Chronicles 32:1-4

Sennacherib Invades Judah

After these ¹acts of faithfulness ^aSennacherib king of Assyria came and invaded Judah and encamped against the fortified cities, and ²thought to break into them for himself. 2 Then Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come and that he had set his face to make war on Jerusalem, 3 and he took counsel with his commanders and his warriors to stop up the supply of water from the springs which were outside the city, and they helped him. 4 So many people gathered ^aand stopped up all the springs and ^bthe stream which flowed in the midst of the land, saying, “Why should the kings of Assyria come and find abundant water?”

Then the spirit of the Egyptians will be emptied to destruction within them;

And I will confuse their counsel,

So that ^athey will seek idols and ghosts of the dead

And to ¹mediums and spiritists.

And you saw that the breaches

In the wall of the city of David were many;

And you ^acollected the waters of the lower pool.

And you made a reservoir ^abetween the two walls

For the waters of the ^bold pool.

But you did not look to Him who made it,

Nor did you see Him who formed it long ago.
