Proverbs 13:24

He who ^aholds back his ¹rod hates his son,

But he who loves him ²^bdisciplines him diligently.

Proverbs 19:18

^aDiscipline your son while there is hope,

And do not ¹direct your soul to put him to death.

It is by his deeds that a young man ^amakes himself known

If his conduct is pure and right.

¹^aTrain up a child ²according to his way,

Even when he is old he will not ³depart from it.

Folly is bound up in the heart of a child;

The ^arod of discipline will remove it far from him.

Bring your heart to discipline

And your ears to ¹words of knowledge.

The one who turns back in his heart will be satisfied with his ^aways,

But a good man will ^bbe satisfied ¹with his.

The ^arod and reproof give wisdom,

But a child ¹left to himself ^bbrings shame to his mother.

^aDiscipline your son, and he will give you rest;

And he will ^bgive delight to your soul.
