Proverbs 10:1

The ^aproverbs of Solomon.

^bA wise son makes a father glad,

But ^ca foolish son is a grief to his mother.

Proverbs 15:20

A ^awise son makes a father glad,

But a foolish man ^bdespises his mother.

He who ^abegets a fool does so to his grief,

And the father of a wicked fool is not glad.

A ^afoolish son is a vexation to his father

And ^bbitterness to her who gave birth to him.

A ^afoolish son is destruction to his father,

And the ^bcontentions of a wife are a constant dripping.

He ^awho assaults his father and causes his mother to flee

Is a son who brings shame and humiliation.

My son, if your heart is ^awise,

My own heart also will be glad;

And my ¹inmost being will exult

When your lips speak ^aupright things.

The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice,

And ^ahe who begets a wise son will be glad in him.

Let your ^afather and your mother be glad,

And let her rejoice who gave birth to you.
