Mark 14:53-72

Jesus Before His Accusers

53 aThen they led Jesus away to the high priest; and all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes *gathered together.
54 And Peter followed Him at a distance, aright into bthe courtyard of the high priest; and he was sitting with the 1officers and cwarming himself at the 2fire. 55 Now the chief priests and the whole 1aSanhedrin were seeking to obtain testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, and they were not finding any. 56 For many were giving false testimony against Him, but their testimony was not consistent. 57 And some, standing up, were giving false testimony against Him, saying, 58 “We ourselves heard Him say, ‘aI will destroy this 1sanctuary made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands.’” 59 And not even in this way was their testimony consistent. 60 And the high priest stood up in their midst and questioned Jesus, saying, “You answer nothing? What are these men testifying against You?” 61 aBut He kept silent and did not answer. bAgain the high priest was questioning Him and *said to Him, “Are You the 1Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?” 62 And Jesus said, “I am; and you shall see athe Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and bcoming with the clouds of heaven.” 63 aAnd tearing his tunics, the high priest *said, “What further need do we have of witnesses? 64 You have heard the ablasphemy; how does it seem to you?” And they all condemned Him to be deserving of death. 65 And some began to aspit at Him, and 1bto blindfold Him, and to beat Him with their fists, and to say to Him, “cProphesy!” And the officers 2received Him with 3slaps in the face.

Peter’s Denials

66 aAnd as Peter was below in bthe courtyard, one of the servant-girls of the high priest *came,
67 and seeing Peter awarming himself, she looked at him and *said, “You also were with the bNazarene, Jesus.” 68 But he denied it, saying, “I neither know nor understand what you are talking about.” And he awent out into the entryway.1 69 And when the servant-girl saw him, she began once more to say to the bystanders, “This is one of them!” 70 But again ahe was denying it. And after a little while the bystanders were again saying to Peter, “Surely you are one of them, bfor you are also a Galilean.” 71 But he began to 1curse and swear, “I do not know this man you are talking about!” 72 And immediately a rooster crowed a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had said the statement to him, “Before aa rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” 1And throwing himself down, he began to cry.

Luke 22:54-71

54 aNow having arrested Him, they led Him away and brought Him to the house of the high priest, but bPeter was following at a distance.
55 aAnd after they had kindled a fire in the middle of bthe courtyard and had sat down together, Peter was sitting among them. 56 And a servant-girl, seeing him as he sat in the firelight and looking intently at him, said, “This man was with Him too.” 57 But he denied it, saying, “Woman, I do not know Him.” 58 A little later, aanother saw him and said, “You are one of them too!” But Peter said, “Man, I am not!” 59 And after about an hour had passed, another man began to insist, saying, “Certainly this man was with Him too, afor he also is a Galilean.” 60 But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about.” Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed. 61 aAnd the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had told him, “bBefore a rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times.” 62 And he went out and cried bitterly.
63 aNow the men who were holding 1Jesus in custody were mocking Him while they beat Him,
64 and they blindfolded Him and were asking Him, saying, “aProphesy, who is the one who hit You?” 65 And they were saying many other things against Him, ablaspheming.

Jesus Before the Sanhedrin

66 aAnd as the day came, bthe Council of elders of the people assembled, both chief priests and scribes, and they led Him away to their cSanhedrin, saying,
67 “aIf You are the 1Christ, tell us.” But He said to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe, 68 and if I ask a question, you will not answer. 69 aBut from now on bthe Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of 1God.” 70 And they all said, “Are You athe Son of God, then?” And He said to them, “bYou yourselves say that I am.” 71 Then they said, “What further need do we have of testimony? For we have heard it ourselves from His own mouth.”

John 18:13-18

13 and led Him to aAnnas first; for he was father-in-law of bCaiaphas, who was high priest that year. 14 Now Caiaphas was the one who had advised the Jews that ait was better for one man to die on behalf of the people.
15 aAnd Simon Peter was following Jesus, and so was another disciple. Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and entered with Jesus into bthe court of the high priest,
16 abut Peter was standing at the door outside. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the doorkeeper, and brought Peter in. 17 aThen the servant-girl who kept the door *said to Peter, “bAre you not also one of this man’s disciples?” He *said, “I am not.” 18 Now the slaves and the aofficers were standing there, having made ba charcoal fire, for it was cold and they were cwarming themselves; and Peter was also with them, standing and warming himself.

John 18:24-27

24 aSo Annas sent Him bound to aCaiaphas the high priest.
25 aNow bSimon Peter was standing and warming himself. So they said to him, “cYou are not also one of His disciples, are you?” He denied it, and said, “I am not.”
26 One of the slaves of the high priest, being a relative of the one awhose ear Peter cut off, *said, “Did I not see you in bthe garden with Him?” 27 Peter then denied it again, and immediately aa rooster crowed.
