3 Then ^aGod said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was ^agood; and God ^bseparated the light from the darkness. 5 ^aAnd God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And ^bthere was evening and there was morning, one day.

14 Then God said, “Let there be ¹^alights in the ²^bexpanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for ^csigns and for ^dseasons and for days and years; 15 and let them be for ¹lights in the ²expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. 16 So God made the two ¹great lights, the ^agreater ²light ³to rule the day, and the lesser ²light ³to rule the night, and also ^bthe stars. 17 ^aAnd God placed them in the ¹expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 and ¹to ^arule the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good.
